Hyde Park Supervisor Tom Martino reveals that it's now time for a change on the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals and Conservation Advisory Council.

"These are appointments, not anointments," he said. "The majority of this board felt the board had to break out of a cycle."

"It means we will be moving up someone to sergeant and replacing the person we move up with another patrolman," Martino said.

The Town Board formed the lieutenant position at its latest 2011 reorganization meeting. Martino said the board did so at the request of police Chief Charles Broe to provide assistance "with running the department."

Funding for the lieutenant position was included in the 2011 town budget of $7.92 million adopted in November.
